Immunosuppressant Therapy Adherence after Kidney Transplantation
نویسندگان
چکیده
All of the participants in study achieved targeted blood levels immunosuppressants and 54% had never forgotten/postponed taking immunosuppressants. The patients; who forgot/postponed prescribed medications, reported associated reasons as follows: Forgetfulness/carelessness (16%), leaving medications at home forgetfully (14%), unable to take because being away from (10%), barriers related their occupation (6%).

NINE CASES OF MALIGNANCY AFTER KIDNEY TRANSPLANTATION
Renal transplantation is considered one of the best long-term therapies for chronic renal failure, but unfortunately the incidence of malignancy significantly increases in renal transplant recipients. We analyzed nine cases of malignancy in 200 renal transplant recipients occurring in a 12-year follow-up in Imam hospital of Tehran University, Tehran, Iran. According to this study, the organ...
متن کاملNEUROLOGIC AND PSYCHOLOGIC COMPLICATIONS AFTER KIDNEY TRANSPLANTATION
Neurologic and psychologic complications are usually related to drug toxicity, infections or symptoms induced by deterioration of renal allograft function. Metabolic encephalopathy, hypertensive encephalopathy, cerebrovascular events, and new-onset seizures have all been reported in organ-transplant recipients. Infections can be caused by listeria, cryptococcus, nocardia, aspergillus and mu...
متن کاملPatient-reported non-adherence and immunosuppressant trough levels are associated with rejection after renal transplantation
BACKGROUND Different measures of non-adherence to immunosuppressant (IS) medication have been found to be associated with rejection episodes after successful transplantation. The aim of the current study was to investigate whether graft rejection after renal transplantation is associated with patient-reported IS medication non-adherence and IS trough level variables (IS trough level variability...
متن کاملAdding thymoglobuline to the conventional immunosuppressant regimen in kidney transplantation: A cost-benefit analysis
Background: Thymoglobuline (TG), is used for both induction and rejection therapy in kidney transplantation (TX). This study was conducted to compare between adding TG or not to the conventional drugs to evaluate the rate of rejections, infections and costs. Methods: In two groups of patients, each of 45 cases group A received conventional drugs (cyclosporine, mycophenolate and prednisolone) a...
متن کاملDevelopment and validation of an immunosuppressant therapy adherence barrier instrument.
BACKGROUND To decrease allograft rejection as a result of non-adherence to immunosuppressant therapy (IST), a valid and reliable instrument that measures solid organ transplant patients' adherence barriers is needed. METHODS An immunosuppressant therapy barrier scale (ITBS) was developed to assess transplant patients' perceived barriers to IST adherence and was completed by 222 transplant pat...
